The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And accepts the best, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
