The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
