Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
