The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
