The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
