The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
