The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night, when it envelops, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
