The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the finest, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
