The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
