Al-Layl

The Night (Al-Layl)

21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
