The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
