The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 He verily will be content. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
