The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
