Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 you strive in various ways. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
