The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers the day, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
