The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
