Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
