The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
