The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
