Al-Duhaa
The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
11 verses, revealed in Mecca after Dawn (Al-Fajr) before Cooling the Temper (Al-Sharrhh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the early hours of the day, 1 And by the night when it is still (or darkens); 2 Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased, 3 and the Hereafter will indeed be better for you than the present life; 4 Verily your Lord will soon give you so amply that you will be well-pleased. 5 Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter? 6 Did He not find you perplexed, and show you the way? 7 And He found you poor, and made you rich (selfsufficient with selfcontentment, etc.)? 8 Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness, 9 and as for the beggar, scold him not; 10 And as to the favour of thine Lord, discourse thou thereof. 11
