The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
