In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or orders piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
