In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
