The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
