The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
