The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
