The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
