The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
