The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
