The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
