Al-Alaq
The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or orders piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
