The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
