The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
