The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
