The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
