The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
