In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
