The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
