The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
