The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
