The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
