The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
