Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter, 1 who amasses wealth and counts it over and again. 2 Does he think that his wealth will prolong his stay on earth forever? 3 By no means! They will be thrown into hutamah. 4 And what could make thee conceive what that crushing torment will be? 5 (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled, 6 The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts: 7 Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
