He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe of God 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
