The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
