By the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 it is a warning to man, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 about the sinners. 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 running away from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
