Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
