Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because on the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships sailing on the sea, like hills. 32 If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful. 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape. 35 That which has been given to you is only the wherewithal of the transient life of this world. But that which is with Allah is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 And those who shun the worst of sins and indecencies and, when they are wroth, forgive, 37 who obey their Lord and establish Prayer; who conduct their affairs by consultation, and spend out of what We have bestowed upon them; 38 and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. 39 The retribution of evil is the equal of evil (done); yet those who forgive and rehabilitate will be rewarded by God. Verily He does not like those who do wrong. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
