۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
