He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and purified. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
